Hi Y'all! I haven't blogged regularly in over a year!  I can't believe that it's been that long! 

Lots of have changed in the last year and I can't wait to share it with you!  

Before I dig into an update, I want to welcome all those who might be new to my blog!  

Thanks for stopping by and learning more about our faith, farm, and family!  

A little background info...my husband and I are 11th generation farmers...I always said 10th but we have learned in the last year that I calculated wrong. We have a family owned and operated dairy in South Carolina.  There are less than 50 other dairies left in our state!  

We farm along with my husband's parents and our 4 farm kids.  

For years I worked full time off the farm however in November I quit my job to stay at home and help on the farm!  Talk about a big adjustment!!  

So far I am loving it!  Now I'm not saying my house is cleaner or that I'm caught up on laundry or that I have started tackling that long list of "things I want to do".  I am saying that I get to spend more time with my family, I am happier and I am doing what I am passionate about.  

My days consist of school drop offs & pick ups, feeding babies (human and bovine varieties), washing dishes, doing laundry, squeezing in time to read my Bible and churn out a few stitches, baking and chasing after little ones.  I wouldn't have it any other way...even though it also means you may find me in the milk parlor more than the house, many times covered in poop & baby vomit and there aren't as many dress up days for the Princess Farmgirl.  

So welcome back!  I can't wait to get back to blogging on a more regular basis...

So it's no news that I am a sporadic blogger at best...

I get into the busyness of life and forget about checking in on this little page.

So what has this farm wife been up to??

I started a new business venture with KEEP Collective and I'm loving it.  You can check out the product here 

We've been enjoying quite a mild fall with lots more rain than we had this summer.  

Here's that growing weed!  

And we cheered on our Bulldogs!  This season gave us the chance to talk with the farmboys about a lot of things.  Like how even if you have a winning season you still may find yourself on the job hunt.  We love Coach Mark Richt but are excited to see what Kirby Smart has to offer.  Our family is praying for both of the men and their families through this transition.  

Oh and what about the farmer?? 

It's been a rough week for us.

Not only has it been extremely busy with

work, school, a sick Farmboy, a cow show, cub scouts plus my Etsy shop orders 

add in a wedding & a funeral and things just go crazy!

On Tuesday evening my Poppa (my dad's dad) passed away.

While not completely unexpected it's always and emotional roller coaster.

The funeral is this morning at 11.

The farmkids and I left our house around 7,

picked up my best friend because the farmer has to milk,

and headed south...

a 2+ hr road trip.

Guess what...it's raining.

Not a little rain but hurricane rains.

We are forecasted to get between 7-14 inches.

3 farm kids, a best friend, a large family and a graveside service 

in hurricane rains...

Once the funeral is over we will spend a little time with the family 

before we hit the road again headed home.

The farmer is spending the day milking and ensuring everything at the farm is ready 

just in case the winds/rain get really bad.

Once we are back in town,

I will change out of my dress clothes and help the farmer out.

Once we are done we will all get dressed back up again

for the wedding of a sweet young lady who we all love dearly.

Not sure we will make the ceremony but we will be at the reception...

come hell or high water (the latter is a real possibly).  

You see she grew up a farm kid, 

she understands not everyone can up and leave the farm for the ceremony

since it's slap in the middle of milking.

I tell you all this so you can learn...

farm work doesn't stop...

not for rains or hurricanes,

not for weddings or weeping.

On our farm the cows & calves still have to be milked, fed, and cared for 

no matter what's on the schedule.  

As a farm wife I've learned how to "keep on keeping on"

even in the hardest of times.

Honestly the routine of farm life is helpful...

you know that while many things change in life,

some things always stay the same.

The calves will always be happy to hear you coming,

the cows will file into the barn in nearly the same order each day,

and that when it rains it pours...

sometimes figuratively and literally.  

While other wives may enjoy a Netflix Marathon or a good book in times like these,

this farm wife will pull on her mud boots and feed calves in the rain.   

My farmer never promised everything would always be sunny,

but he did promise there would always be enough love and understanding to weather any storm.

I have taken a break from blogging for the last few weeks.  October's 31 day challenge was tough!!  I decide I would start another series of sorts.  Every few days I will post a graphic that shares a little insight on our farm and my farmer.  Hope you enjoy!

With Thanksgiving tomorrow this is the perfect picture.

We don't get holidays and vacations from the farm.  The Farmer has to care for our livestock each and everyday of the year.  

So while you are prepping and enjoying your holiday meal with family and friends be sure to take a moment and thank the farm families who worked hard day in and day out to put that meal on your table.  By the way...they are working Thanksgiving too!

To many folks surprise farm life doesn't just include what's happening on the farm.

In our farm family farm life is our life...so it includes everything that is going on...

from new calves being born,

teeth being cut,

to starting new journeys... all of it is part of life on the farm.

Last weekend the boys and I had to work on fence.

Some of the beef cows kept visiting the neighbors who apparently didn't want house guest :) 

Periodically throughout the year I take a couple of weeks off from blogging.

I do this for a couple of reasons but the main one is to refocus. 

Blogging doesn't make me any money and requires a fair amount of time,

but I really enjoy it.  It allows me to express myself and share a little about our life.

With that said over the last couple of weeks I have really thought about what I wanted to share on the blog and have a developed a schedule.  Today kicks off the first new feature #Farmlife Friday!  

On Fridays we will be sharing all about what is happening around our farm.

Over the last few weeks things have been super busy.

The farmer's favorite part of our trip was the toll booths (WV) and the tunnels (VA) along I-77.

 How are they keeping cows cool?

How do they handle fresh cows (cows who just had a calf)?

What are they feeding their cows?

And the whole family gets to attend...which is great since it's hard to get away from the farm,

especially as a whole family. 

Unfortunately the Farm Baby & I missed out on everything after lunch.

He was in desperate need of a nap...

which turned into a sleep fest.

He slept 13+ hours between Monday afternoon & Tuesday morning!!
