What She Read Wednesday: Conrad & the Cowgirl Next Door by Denette Fretz
Conrad is
visiting Uncle Clint’s ranch to learn how to be a cowboy…which is a mite harder
than it looks. Better be glad that he
brought along his Mega Ultimate Extreme First Aid Kit to patch up all the
bumps, bruises, and headaches along the way.
This is a wonderful book to encourage children to love their neighbors.
Oh my how the boys and I enjoyed this delightful little tale about a city boy coming to the ranch. As a farm family we always enjoy books that share a glimpse into life on the farm/ranch even if it's fiction. This book does a great job of sharing that there are bumps & folks along the way to learning the cowboy rules that make things a little harder than it seems!
As a parent I love that Conrad is kind and helpful to Imogene even when she isn't kind to him. The Farm Boy loved the silly predicaments that Conrad found himself in and how he was always there to bandage everyone up.
This is a great book for a laugh and a wonderful lesson on loving your enemies. There is a section for parents in the back that has discussion questions to help hit home the Christian messages tucked away in the pages.
Overall this book gets 2 thumbs up for content, illustrations, and teaching potential!
Until we meet again...may God bless you & keep you!
